Our goals for eminnetonka.com are that it is:

This site was designed and developed in-house to meet the needs of our community. We continue to work on improving the quality of the information and services provided by this site. If you have comments or suggestions, please let us know.

Site design

The main purpose of this site’s design is to make information easy to find. That means putting a search box in an easy to find location. Providing a global navigation bar allows you to quickly move to most sections of the site from any page within the site. The local navigation helps you to find related pages within a section of the site, as well as showing you your location within the site. A list of related pages, documents, external links, and contact information is also available on every page, so that after you find the information you are looking for, you can find what to do next.

The look of the site is meant to reflect the look of Minnetonka. The colors chosen for this site were picked because they reflected the colors one sees in a drive through Minnetonka from the dark browns in the trees to the warm cream colors in the wetlands to the cool blues in the water. Care was taken to make sure the text on each page was readable.

Accessibility

We want to make sure that everyone can access the information on eminnetonka.com, even if they have impairments to their vision or mobility or another disability. Information is available on vision impairment assistance and keyboard navigation.

This site was designed with accessibility guidelines in mind, especially the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and Section 508, the federal standards for accessibility on the web. We continue to work on ensuring we meet these guidelines.

Flexibility for the future

This site uses modern standards in web design to ensure that it remains flexible as the web continues to evolve and grow. That means coding the site to the XHTML 1.0 Strict standard and using CSS 2.1 stylesheets. What that means to you is that this site is flexible. It has been tested and works flexibly in most web browsers, even with different screen sizes or when printing or using handheld devices. This will also allow us to more easily make changes to this site as we receive feedback and as technologies change.
