Lottery for Boat Slips
Applications are due Wednesday, February 15 for the lottery for the boat slips vacancywaiting list.
Gray’s Bay Marina, located on the corner of County Road 101 South and Gray’s Bay Boulevard in Minnetonka, includes 29 permanent boat slips. See below for more information about these slips.
Slip Leasing
Eligibility
Boat slips are leased to Minnetonka residents only, including residents of rental properties, with one application accepted per residence. The city of Minnetonka must be the applicant’s principle place of residence, and the applicant must reside at the residence listed on the application. Registration of the boat moored in the slip must match the name and address of the applicant to whom the slip is leased.
Boat Slip Allocation
A lottery was held to allocate the initial 29 boat slips and create a wait list. Future lotteries will be held to replenish the wait list and to fill any boat slip vacancies in the event the wait list is depleted. Lotteries will be advertised in the Minnetonka Memo, local newspaper, Web site and Minnetonka cable channel 16.
Wait List
The wait list consists of approximately 50 names. When the wait list drops to ten or less, a lottery is held to replenish the list. A person must fill out a lottery application form to be considered for the lottery. Forms are only available when a lottery is advertised (Minnetonka Memo, local newspaper, Web site, cable access channel 16), approximately 30 days prior to the lottery. Wait list guidelines are available upon request.
Lease Term
All future boat slip vacancies are filled with up to an eight-year term. Each new slip holder will sign a lease for one boating season, with a courtesy option to renew for up to seven additional seasons.
Cost
The cost to lease a slip for the 2012 boating season is $3,900.
Slip Details
Boat Slip Size
Slips can accommodate boats up to 26 feet in actual total length (measured from the tip of the bow pulpit to the end of the swim platform or the furthest point away from the tip of the bow, whichever is longer). Boat slips are approximately 10-1/2 feet wide.
Amenities
Each slip has access to city water and electricity (30-amp marine twist-lock outlet).
Parking for Slip Holders
Fourteen parking spaces are reserved for slip holders. Each slip holder receives one parking permit. Note: During the 2009 boating season, the 14 spaces were never filled at one time.
Gas Dock
The gas dock offers gasoline (91 octane ethanol-free premium unleaded boat fuel), two-cycle motor oil and pump-out service.
