Wildlife
Wildlife is abundant in Minnetonka and sometimes causes problems for residents. The city deals only with wild animals that are sick or injured. Please call the Minnetonka Police Department at 952.939.8500 to report a sick or injured wild animal, or to report a wild animal bite. For complaints involving nuisance wildlife, consult a pest control agency or wildlife management service (listed in the Yellow Pages).
For information on coyotes, please see the Living with Minnetonka’s Coyotes page.
Deer Management
The city maintains a deer management program involving education and periodic removal of deer. Program goals are:

- To prevent starvation and disease from overpopulation of deer.
- To reduce the number of motor vehicle accidents involving deer.
- To preserve and protect the land of property owners.
- To contribute to the success of the city’s natural resources stewardship program.
Residents interested in minimizing vegetation damage to their property may call the Minnetonka Police Department at 952.939.8500 or the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources regarding effective techniques.
