Updated information on 2013 Street Rehabilitation: Sparrow Road area

Newsletter: November 13, 2013 (PDF)

Update: November 21, 2013

General updates:
This is likely the last regular weekly email update for the year regarding the Sparrow Road reconstruction project. Twitter updates (@MtkaSparrowRd) and email updates will be sent out as necessary for the remainder of this season, and next year. The city website project page will also carry updated information as needed.

We continue to be hopeful that the private utility companies will have the poles removed this year. However, it is too late in the season to complete the missing curb and gutter, sidewalk and final wear course. There will also undoubtedly be restoration work associated with the private utility work. This work will be completed in the spring.

If you have an irrigation system you can call your contractor to make repairs. Send the invoice to Chris for payment; please be sure to indicate who is to be paid. This work can also wait until next spring if your contractor is unavailable.

  • The landscape contractor is currently installing sod or seed, and general landscape restoration in both phases. The weather forecasts are indicating this will likely be the last week sod will be available.
  • Comcast subcontractor MP Nexlevel has mainline conduits installed. They will now focus on switching from overhead to underground facilities.
  • Xcel is very close to having their mainline facilities complete in Phase 2. They will then focus on street crossings and switching their facilities from overhead to underground.
  • In the event of service interruption, individual homeowners will be contacted by Xcel, Comcast or CenturyLink.
  • The poles will remain in place until all four private utility companies have completed their work.

Thank you for your patience during this project.
