2011 Photo Contest Results
Nearly 250 entries were received for this year’s city of Minnetonka photo contest, held in conjunction with the October Fire Department and City Open House. Minnetonka Community Commission members met to evaluate the entries, and chose the following winners, which are listed below. - First Place
- Sheryl Papp, “Purgatory Creek”

- Second Place
- Josefina Montero, “Bright Morning at Shady Oak Beach”

- Third Place
- Jim Stroner, “Great Blue Heron Take-off”

In addition, the commission chose a Judges’ Choice Award in each of the three categories: Lifestyle, Natural and Wild Minnetonka. Winners in this category were:
- Judges’ Choice—Natural Minnetonka
- Rick Bruce, “Minnehaha Creek in Transition”

- Judges’ Choice—Lifestyle Minnetonka
- Eric Raarup, “Morning Fog”

- Judges’ Choice—Wild Minnetonka
- Mary Gorton, “What a Fox”

“What a Fox” by Mary Gorton was also the People’s Choice Award winner, as chosen by visitors to the October 11 Fire Department and City Open House event.
Finally, the commission gave out several honorable mention awards, as follows:
