2009 Photo Contest Results
Nearly 200 entries were received for this year’s city of Minnetonka photo contest, held in conjunction with the October Fire Department and City Open House. Minnetonka Community Commission members met to evaluate the entries, and chose the following winners:
- First Place
- Kathy Salaski, “Morning Walk in Kinsel Park”
- Second Place
- Anne Groton, “Morning Grace”
- Third Place
- Tom Anderson, “Wooded Trail”
Attendees of the October 6 Fire Department and City Open House event were invited to vote for a People’s Choice Award, and the photo receiving the most votes was:
- Kristine Cooley, “Hummingbird at Feeder”
In addition, the commission designated a “Judges’ Choice” award in each of the three categories: Lifestyle, Natural and Wild Minnetonka.

- Larry Wade, “Painted Turtle”
- Judges’ Choice—Natural Minnetonka
- JoAnn Ambrose, “First Chill”
- Judges’ Choice—Lifestyle Minnetonka
- Mercedes Arnold, “Summer Fun”
Finally, the commission gave out several honorable mention awards.

- Doug Johnson, “Shady Oak Lake Mist”
- Fred Leverentz, “Backyard Visitor”
- Josefina Montero, “Sunset of Summer at Shady Oak Beach”
- Reed Nelson, “Lake the Director”
Winners will receive their awards at the Monday, November 9, meeting of the Minnetonka City Council. Thank you to everyone who entered this year’s contest!
