Recreation Services offers many part-time jobs throughout the year. Apply early as positions are filled as early as possible. It’s never too early to apply. You must be at least 16 years of age.

Williston Fitness Center

All positions are eligible for free single membership.

Land and Water Aerobics Instructor

Land and water aerobics instructors must have prior experience teaching a variety of classes. Water aerobics instructors must have experience teaching water aerobics and/or water arthritis classes. Certifications are preferred. Hours range throughout the day from Mondays through Saturdays. Starting pay is $17–$30/hour depending on qualifications.

Youth Programs

Water Safety Instructor

Hours: Varies, 5–15 hours per week

Hourly wage: $10

General responsibilities: Assists Swim Lesson Coordinator with the instruction of swimming classes.

Specific job responsibilities:

  • Provide quality swim instruction and education
  • Implement getting in the water during each class period.
  • Complete records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Act as a positive representative of Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services.
  • Keep pool area clean and neat.
  • Have a lesson plan ready for each class and all equipment ready before class begins.
  • Keep the safety of your students foremost in your mind.
  • Have certification cards completed before the last class session.
  • Complete other duties assigned by the program manager and/or swim lessons coordinator.

Preferred qualifications/experience:

  • Previous experience as a Water Safety Instructor.
  • Current WSI and CPRPR certifications. Current LGT preferred.
