Community Action Recognition

Minnetonka’s unique character comes from the individuals, organizations, and businesses that contribute so much to the community, and we think it’s important to recognize and celebrate those contributions. To do this, we’ve created the Minnetonka Community Action Recognition Award program.

This program will target those projects that enrich the quality of life in this community, show human connections, preserve natural resources, beautify the community, or exemplify good citizenship. Here are some project examples to give you some ideas about the concept: a neighborhood joining together for a clean-up, a group planting a garden to change an eyesore to a landmark, or a business that provides a special program for youth. The opportunities for recognition are endless. The idea is to recognize these efforts very quickly after the city has been advised of them and to publicize them to encourage others.

The nomination process is simple. If you’re aware of a project you think merits recognition, send us information about who should be recognized, what was done, and how their project benefited Minnetonka. Projects that fit the goals of the program will be recognized in our Minnetonka Memo and at our annual open house. Recipients will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Minnetonka City Council at a council meeting.
